We’re excited to announce that as of today, Trunk.ly has been acquired by AVOS, the new owners of Delicious http://www.avos.com/avos-acquires-trunkly.
As a result, Trunk.ly will be discontinued, and we will immediately start working to integrate our technology and insights to accelerate the link-saving and searching capabilities in Delicious.
So what does this mean for you?
- Effective immediately we will no longer accept new sign ups for Trunk.ly.
- We will continue to operate the site for another two months to allow you time to migrate your links.
- As we are now working full-time on Delicious, we won’t be able to provide more than basic operational support.
To migrate your links you can export them here http://trunk.ly/settings/export/ and easily import them to another service (including Delicious).
Finally, thank you for your support – we never expected that 12 months ago we would grow Trunk.ly to the success it’s become and we really do owe that to you, our users who have helped us, supported us and promoted us along the way.
We really hope you’ll join us at Delicious, we’re very excited to be working with them, there is a great team there with ambitious plans and together we hope to build the best way to discover and collect the web.

I’m sure this is good news for you both. You’ve got a great service here and AVOS would be fools not to take Trunk.ly’s features fully onbroad in the revamped delicious (sooner rather than later, too, I hope).
AHHHAHSGFHSD;fsd;lkfajs damnit… I just found trunkly and was liking it much better.
Delicious is okay but the new changes aren’t even close to what I or many ppl wanted. Trunkly pulls in tweeted links, delicious USED to but hasn’t since around 3rd October. I NEED that functionality to work; as it’s extremely useful for a number of reasons.
With that said I only want links that are tweeted by me publicly, not links I’ve @ replied to people. Should be an option for that. I talked to the trunkly guys on twitter and they mentioned that was in the pipeline. Hopefully still is.
I do like delicious’ chrome extension better because it works a ton better, and is official, but has its own issues.
I STILL want/need a way to batch edit tags in delicious now… all those “from:somebody” tags are useless and most are spam links. How do I get ride of over 100+ of them?
I see AVOS as having a lot of talent and development power but should focus more on what the community needs/wants? They rescued Delicious… but I’d like to see the proper features added in.
@chuckreynolds
Can I suggest pinboard.in ? Author’s very responsive, and it can scrape Twitter, Instapaper, and a few other things.
Hi Chuck - I don’t work for delicious or anything, just happened upon Trunk.ly as a delicious user reading today about the acquisition.
The timing seemed right to add this comment as I just finished bulk editing my tags in delicious with the “Manage Tags” feature. I read about it on their Delicious Engineering blog (status.delicious.com).
From your “my links” area in delicious, towards the top, look for the green “manage tags” dropdown.
We can also now use comma separated tags (we can have phrases again).
I appreciate the work that is being done over at delicious in bringing it back and making it something great. I also know you guys are way more heavy-duty users than I in this whole world (Tweeting, etc.), but for what its worth – I hope that helps a little.
With trunk.ly on the team, it might be cool to see what delicious becomes!

Well done guys. Great result.

Woo Hoo!! Nicely done guys.
Well done Tim, that is incredible, congratulations to the both of you! Really pleased for you!

@ChuckReynolds since you liked trunkly, you will like “trunklicious”. I guess it will take them 4 month. These guys r really fast.

I’ve been avoiding Delicious like the plague (which I may have to rethink) as it doesn’t seem to have a purpose. I started using Trunk.Ly a few days ago and it didn’t work as I hoped it would. Other than discontinuing use given your service will close, how do I remove my account? I would like to do that in case I decide to re-sign up some day.
Seems you just did close it. That was quick.
You should still be able to login and use Trunk.ly if you’ve already registered. If you want to remove your account, you can do so here http://trunk.ly/settings/advanced/ by clicking the Cancel Account link at the bottom right. Cheers, Tim
Well I must have removed my account correctly then.
I hit a cancel account button in that approximate location and nothing happened.
I came and posted here. Went back there whilst still logged in and tried to change things and I had been logged out.
I cannot login now and it cannot find my email in the database. So I must have done it correctly.
Thank you for your help.
LALALALA! NOT LISTENING! LALALALA! NOT LISTENING! LALALALA!
Tim, how could you do this to me? I expect you to consult with me personally before making decisions like this! I moved from Delicious to Trunkly and now you want me to go back?
Seriously: congratulations on the exit, I hope it’s highly favourable terms for you guys.
Congratulations!~

Exactly what Alan Jones said – I came here from Delicious, don’t send me back to that gulag of horror!
Brilliant ! Well done guys !
Really? Delicious is back? Are you gonna acquire the same name? Welcome back! I love trunkly though.
Smart move of you both. I hope Delicious will introduce Trunk.ly features as soon as possible.
Congratulations Alex and Tim this is a fantastic result. ~ Rodney
any one can recomend other similar service but more compromise with the costumers?
I am really really happy for the both of you. It’s been a fun tool and great to watch grow. I happened to meet Alex this year – quite an honor to meet such a great guy with a work ethic I can’t even begin to comprehend. I suspect Tim’s much the same.
It’s great to see such hard work pay off. I don’t care about the future of any product – I hope the future for you both is rosey whatever you get into.
Well done guys. Great result.
Congrats
Congratulations! Well deserved – now keep teaching delicious how it SHOULD be done
Everyone knows what AVOS did to delicious, they screw it up… please let them know how to get online bookmark service right. I hope the new version of your bookmarking service will be better than any other.
Congratulations. I actually still use Delicious as my “bookmark” service, so I’m not traumatised by this decision. However, I really like Trunk.ly and I’m doubtful that Delicious will ever come close. Hopefully you guys prove me wrong.
I was at the ‘old’ Delicious and generally loved it, the new Delicious is looking to get a bunch of shiny new users principally by displaying lots of pretty pictures (and presumably the ‘blink’ attribute if they thought they could get away with it), in lieu of concentrating on retaining and extending data relationships *which is what it’s all about*, so beware, there’s a lot of unrest over there just now.
Also if any any Trunk.ly folks have juice in the new digs, please, Please look at the most basic shit, like decent CSS styling for their display fonts – if they can’t get this right, what else can’t they do?
Hopefully congratulation tru.ly are in order for you guys – only time will tell.
Providing the link for where to IMPORT links into Delicious (next to the one you already provide for how to EXPORT out of Trunkly) would be helpful. I had to get acquainted with Delicious and find it, which took me about 10 minutes. Here is the link where you can import: https://secure.delicious.com/settings/bookmarks/import
Great news for you. Will Delicious offer the feature set of trunkly before trunkly gets shut down? I checked on Delicious but I couldn’t find import of Twitter etc anywhere.
We’ve already started working on integration. We’re trying hard to make sure the important things are cut across before shut-down. If they aren’t we’ll certainly review the time frame as we get more information.
Make Delicious as good as Trunk.ly
Best of luck to you –
Seriously – very sad you are not continuing -
Yeah, another delicious refuge here. Now I don’t know what to do… :-/
Good luck, you guys. I’ll check you out, but… delicious really turned into a thing of horror for me
Aw, I just found you guys, and thought you were a great alternative to Delicious to keep track of the links I tweet. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a successful integration, and wish you the best of luck.
Great news for you.
I really appreciated Trunk.ly. Best of luck to you!
Do you still stand by your words here?
http://blog.trunk.ly/2011/09/29/like-lady-gaga-bought-the-library-of-congress-why-new-delicious-fail/
Oh that’s just great. Not only are you in the process of wrecking Delicious, you’re now going to close down an excellent service. Just who ARE you people, and will you kindly clear off?
Do you guys plan to destroy yet another bookmarking service? Your credibility is weak. Now i will need to move on again.
