Google Feed Reader is a great way to collect lots of items from blogs and other sources so that you can read them all in one place. But sometimes you just want to save the best items into Trunk.ly so that you can easily find them again later.
A popular way to do this is to collect your “starred” items (effectively favorites from Google Reader) into Trunk.ly, but you could collect any label or folder you apply to Google Reader items.
There are a few steps, but it’s worth the effort!
1. Edit your Google Settings.
Log in to Google Reader and click on the “Gear” to the top right of the Google Reader window. Select “Reader Settings”.
2. Make your starred items public.
Click on the “Folders and Tags” tab, then click on the RSS Feed icon for the folder you want to save into Trunk.ly and switch it from Private to “Public” (which is already done in the image above for our Starred Items). You can make any folders or tags you like Public and also save those into Trunk.ly. Click on the link to “view public page”.
3. Copy the new Public Feed.
You’ll now see a list of the items available on the feed. To the right there is a profile picture and under that, an Orange Atom Feed link. Right click the link and copy the URL / Link address.
4. Put this in the connector in trunk.ly
From the link sources page in Trunk.ly, click on the Google Reader connector and paste the URL/Link you copied above in step 3. That’s it, you’re good to go! Trunk.ly will collect and store any starred items you save in Google Reader.
